I am assuming that reference is the relevant Ho paper (though he is not listed as an author). It sounds a rather obscure way to "prove" high levels of virus, particularly in view of Kary Mullis's well-known objections.

If you can recall, what virus levels did he conclude were in the (as I recall) in vivo lymphoid tissue? Was it claimed to be whole virions?
